What Is Foster Church?
◦ Traditionally, the foster system model looks like a three-legged stool. The three legs are: the kids, parents & agencies (DCYF, Fostering Together, etc.)
◦ If you've ever sat on a three-legged stool, you know they're good and useful, but they aren't as stable as you'd like them to be. ◦ Citipoint Church aims to improve this model by adding a 4th leg, because a four-legged chair is more stable than a three-legged stool. ◦ As the 4th leg, we will promote the well-being of the other 3 legs. And in so doing, bring more stability to the whole system. |

This is a gospel issue
At this moment there are roughly 9,000 foster kids in the state of Washington and less than 5,000 foster homes. Every one of those kids is hurting, struggling, and hoping. The need is obvious. The system is taxed. Kids are spending nights in hotels, sibling groups are being broken up, and the agencies are overloaded.
James 1:27
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. (ESV)
Our values compel us to: Care for the lost, seek the young, heal the injured, feed the healthy. This is good shepherding and it is what Jesus modeled for us. Being the 4th leg (children, parents, and agencies being the other three) in the foster system model is both a practical and powerful way for the church to live out its values.
