FOSTER CHURCH ROLES
A foster church is a local church that promotes the well-being of those in the foster system (kids, parents, & agencies) within their community. The overarching goal of Foster Church is to show the love of Christ by providing tangible support and encouragement to foster, adoptive, kinship care, and bio families in our community.
CarePortal:
CarePortal is a care-sharing technology (app/web page) that connects children and their families in crisis with people who want to help in proximity, in real time. CarePortal connects churches, businesses, community members, and referring agencies to support foster families and local children and their families in need. Sign up to join the team today!
Team Roles
Point Person: This team member is the point of contact for CarePortal and oversees the volunteer team and CarePortal funds for Citipoint Church.
Resource Responder: These team members donate new and gently used items and funds to impact a family in need.
Relational Responder: These team members can donate items and funds. They are also approved to connect with the referring agency workers to pick up and deliver the requested items or services for families (trucks and muscles). This is also an opportunity to make a meaningful connection with the family.
RePlanted:
RePlanted is a support group for foster and adoptive families. This group is focused on a faith-based curriculum that offers encouragement and emotional support. Families and team members meet once a month. The adults share a meal and connect over shared/similar experiences while their kids do the same in a fun and structured environment.
Team Roles
Group Facilitator: This team member oversees the adult small group by facilitating the curriculum discussion.
Children’s Coordinator: This team member is responsible for recruiting, training, and coordinating the childcare mentors for each group. He/she will be actively involved in helping problem-solve behaviors and support group dynamics with the mentor team, as needed.
Children’s Team (mentors): These team members will be in the classroom with the children, leading games, crafts, free play, and helping teach the lesson that RePlanted provides.
Toddlers (0-4yrs)
School Age (5-11yrs)
Teen (12-18yrs)
Hospitality Coordinator: This team member is responsible for setting up the environment, welcoming families, and overseeing the food team.
Food Team: These team members provide a meal for the night, either making it themselves, outsourcing to others, or procuring donations from local restaurants. Sets up, serves, and cleans up.
Security: These team members monitor entrances/exits to ensure safety.
Media: This team member plays any videos or music needed for children's curriculum and free time.
Baby Showers/Care Closet:
Join us in celebrating the moms who receive support through Skagit Valley Pregnancy Care Center! Our Baby Showers are provided twice a year and serve multiple moms and their families. We celebrate these moms with games, food, fun, and plenty of gifts. Gifts include all the necessary baby essentials, bouncers, and new and gently used clothing. Help us shower these families with the love of Christ and the needed items to support their growing families.
Care Closet is our off-site location that houses all of our baby shower clothing, baby items, and clothing for families in need. The Care Closet team meets a couple of times prior to the showers to sort clothing and prep items for the baby showers.
Team Roles
Care Closet: These team members sort new and used clothing and prep bags of used clothing for the gift bags.
Food: These team members provide homemade or store-bought food items for guests.
Set up/Tear down: These team members decorate the day before and the morning of by putting gift bags together, set up the gift table display, set up tables and chairs, and set up the food tables.
Nursery: These team members care for children who attend with guests.
Donate baby items: These team members donate diapers, wipes, new clothing (0-9m), baby toys, diaper bags, etc.
Freezer Meals:
Freezer meals are a practical and meaningful way we support foster parents. Team members donate food items and gather together to prepare multiple meals once a quarter on a Saturday morning from 9 - 1 pm. The meals are then delivered to the families to use as needed, providing a night of rest and time with the family.
Team Roles
Donate food items: These team members will purchase food from the list of needed ingredients that is emailed out using the Signup Genius tool. These items can be delivered to the church or brought on the day of the event.
Prepare meals: These team members work as a team to prepare multiple meals. There are many steps to putting a meal together: chop, fry, mix, etc. Pick one you are comfortable with and get cooking!
Lookout Teams:
Lookout Teams care for vulnerable children and support the foster parents or bio parents who care for them. Team members encourage families in relational and concrete ways. They can do this by providing meals, babysitting, mentoring, chores, etc., to the family. This is ongoing support, day to day, and is one of the most needed types of support. Join the team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in the foster care system. You will get a weekly email with ways to pray, encourage, and support the family.
Team Roles
Mentor: These team members spend time with the children and or teens as encouragement or teaching a skill.
Parent Helper: These team members are willing to step in and help care for the children. This could be supervised (caring for children while mom is home) or unsupervised (childcare while mom’s away).
Resources: These team members are willing to provide items requested by the parent or help with day-to-day needs.
Team Lead: This team member connects with parents on a weekly basis to learn about any needs and prayer requests, sends out the information to the team, and organizes team hangouts on occasion.
Host Homes:
These are individuals or families who have a passion for helping families in crisis and keeping children out of foster care. Host Homes are able to open their home up to children for short periods of time to support parents who are struggling in some way (homelessness, domestic violence, medical issues, etc) and need a break and/or somewhere for their children to be while they get the support they need.

Foster Family Night Out:
This is Citipoint’s annual event that requires all hands on deck and is an absolute blast! We support foster, adoptive, and kinship families by giving the caregiver a few hours to themselves while their children are dropped off to participate in a night filled with food, games, prizes, and so much fun. There’s always a theme, and the facility is decorated to the max. This is one event you don't want to miss. It’s both fun and heart-warming.
Team Roles
Hospitality: This team will greet families, take children to designated areas, and connect kids w/parents at the end of the night.
Food: This team will prep food items prior to the event, bring and serve food, clean up, and run the snow cone table.
Games/Activities: This team will run the activity they are assigned to by showing the kids how to play and supervising them.
Table Lead: This team will oversee a small (4 or 5) group of kids during dinner and during the activities. They will have a helper as well.
Set up and cleanup: This team will help with large items such as the dunk tank, bounce house, and decor.
Decor: This team will decorate days prior to the event and the day of.
Children's/Nursery rooms: This team will care for children during the event and possibly take them to see activities if the event allows.
Special Needs Caretaker: This team will provide one-on-one care for children and teens who have special needs.
Security: This team will monitor entrances/exits during the event.
