DISCIPLESHIP PATHWAY
1. RECEIVE GOD'S GIFT = SALVATION
This happens in a moment in time and is by grace through faith. With Citipoint Church, after someone receives God’s gift, they are then guided through The Basics with a trusted friend, mentor, or pastor.
2. AFFIRM YOUR FAITH = WATER BAPTISM & CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
Water baptism is the public declaration of one’s faith in Jesus Christ.
Church membership is the acknowledgment that a believer is part of the family of God, which finds its expression in the local church.
3. SHARE THE FAITH = TELL YOUR STORY & THE GOSPEL STORY
The good news of God’s salvation isn’t just the best good news in the world, it is good news for the world as well! As disciples of Jesus, we must learn how to share our story as well as the gospel story. These two things are not synonymous. Our story is like the appetizer that preps the pallet for the main course; the gospel!
4. GROW YOUR SOUL = COMMUNITY & SERVICE
Maturing in our faith is a lifelong endeavor and a joint effort with other followers of Jesus! We need the presence of God (the Word and the Spirit), the community of believers, and meaningful service to create a climate that is conducive to growth!
5. GO MAKE DISCIPLES = WALKING OTHERS ALONG THE PATHWAY
Maturing disciples of Jesus understand that discipleship is not a one-way trip, it’s a round-trip journey. We can know if we are making progress as a disciple if we are going in circles! That simply means we come around again to the beginning of the pathway as we walk alongside someone else who is not yet a Christian or is a new disciple.
