SIN
Sin is any act that violates the holy character of God and so dishonors him (Lev. 11:44; Rom. 3:23; 1 Peter 1:14-16; 1 John 3:4). It is a failure to truly love God (Deut. 6:5). All humans are guilty of sin (Rom. 3:23). There is no part of the human person that isn’t affected by sin. Apart from Christ, humans are dead in sin, alienated from God, and on their own have no ability to positively respond to God (Eph. 2:1-5, 4:18; Rom. 3:10-11; 1 Cor. 2:14). Thus, sin for each human makes them objects of God’s wrath; exposed to God's judgment and ensuing condemnation.
